Description: This print by Utamaro is from the Hokkoku Goshiki-zumi (北國五色墨, "Five Shades of Ink in the Northern Quarter") series. The title, Teppo (てっぽう), "gun" in English, refers to the lowest class of prostitutes. They were called "guns" because "if you get hit, you die," meaning that customers often fell ill after spending the night with such a prostitute. This piece is not only sensual, but also has a decadent beauty.

This print has a few slight creases.
