Description: This print is from the series Kuruwa Hakkei (Eight Views of the Pleasure Quarters), which depicts the life of courtesans in Shin-Yoshiwara, Tokyo's red-light district. Eisen is noted for his depictions of the ladies of the quarter, and here he conveys a courtesan lost in thought leaning against the lattice of a bay window.

This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Yamada Shoin.
