Description: This print is from the series, 日本木版画粋 (Masterpieces of Japanese Woodblock Prints), a collection of reproductions of various themes and designs published around 1924. The print quality is excellent (for most of the prints) and there are almost no traces of baren on the back, so we assume that it was at least partially machine printed.

This print depicts a woman sitting and about to write a letter. She is wearing a very elegant black kimono with some flower ornaments. With the red and navy underlayers peeking through the rich black kimono resulting in a beautiful color contrast.

She is holding a brush delicately, posing against her cheek as if she was seeking inspiration or thinking what to write on the blank scroll.

This print has two small black dots on the backside.
